Car Won’t Start in Valet Parking? Arrange Access First

Car won’t start in valet parking? Call Rick’s with the actual parking location and the staff contact who can provide access.

Find out where the car is actually parked

The valet stand may be separate from the lot or garage holding your vehicle. Before giving Rick’s the restaurant or hotel address, ask staff for the car’s exact location, entrance, level and space. Confirm whether the car remains in that space or has already been moved to a retrieval area.

Keep your claim ticket available and give the vehicle’s year, make, model and color. A ticket number helps staff identify the car, but it does not tell the roadside operator which entrance to use. If staff plan to relocate it, update Rick’s when the new position is confirmed.

Arrange a staff contact and key handoff

Ask who can meet the operator, open the gate and provide the keys with your authorization. Confirm that person’s contact number and whether they will still be on duty at the expected arrival time. If a shift change is approaching, ask how the handoff will be handled.

Tell Rick’s whether you will be present. If someone else is coordinating the pickup, explain their role and discuss authorization before dispatch. Do not assume that leaving the claim ticket with a friend settles every access or release requirement.

Ask the parking operator about its vehicle-release process and any outstanding parking arrangements. Rick’s roadside quote is separate from any parking charges. This guide does not establish who caused the breakdown or who is responsible for paying for it.

Report the symptoms without guessing the cause

Ask staff what happened during the attempted retrieval: clicking, slow cranking, normal cranking without starting, no dashboard power, or a warning message. Tell Rick’s who observed it and whether any jump start or other intervention has already been attempted. “The valet says it needs a battery” is useful context, but it is not a confirmed diagnosis.

Use the roadside assistance options to discuss the symptoms. A suitable service may be possible where the car sits, but access and the vehicle’s condition must be checked first. A no-start does not automatically require either a new battery or a tow.

Check the route to the vehicle

For garage entry, confirm the lowest height, ramps, turns and loading room. Mention gates, cars blocking the space and whether the vehicle is on a mechanical parking platform or lift. Rick’s must assess access; do not assume a tow truck can enter because passenger cars can.

If transport is needed, Rick’s light-duty wheel-lift towing requires a compatible vehicle and loading arrangement, with dollies when appropriate. Report drivetrain, key availability, wheel or suspension damage, and whether the car rolls and steers. Flatbed, medium-duty, heavy-duty and motorcycle towing are not offered.

Confirm one clear pickup plan

In Lake View East or a Lincoln Park valet lot, give the actual parking entrance and any access restrictions rather than only the venue name. Rick’s is an independent roadside provider; a call does not establish an affiliation with the venue or valet company.

Before dispatch, confirm the staff contact, keys, vehicle location, requested service, arrival estimate and full quote. If towing is needed, have the receiving shop’s address and delivery instructions ready. Rick’s is open 24/7, with Lake View East primary and Chicago’s North Side the broader focus.
